Billionaires are getting divorced, it’s happening everywhere! It’s started getting mainstream when the world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos got one. He parted away with 4% of Amazon, it’s no big deal, still retained his position at the helm. Made his ex one of the richest woman in the world with that divorce. Ladies, you gotta pick em right. You have options, align them with plan A as the best but have a strong plan B and C. Then Kanye West got one. Kim Kardashian is herself a Billionaire so the divorce process will be smooth, plus prenuptial agreements were signed, I feel this was a great business agreement. The two brands were great together, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian – Kimye, that is amazing! Elon Musk and Charlie Munger have been divorced at least 2 times son. Steve Jobs could have had one if he lived longer, I am almost certain; there’s no ways Steve Jobs doesn’t get a divorce. Even the greatest man in the world, Warren Buffet had some problems; but he didn’t divorce, that would disgrace his name. They made it into a business-like agreement, they were cordial with one another, but the wife left him, things worked out perfectly for both parties as they both self-actualized and lived fulfilled lives. Classic Warren Buffet, a winner in any case, a natural winner, even when he loses he wins; his wife put a younger woman to look after his needs since she lived on the other side of the world, it was someone she trusted, someone with credibility, someone with the right values, someone who could fit into Warren’s tempament like a glove, someone functional and valuable. The first thing I am going to do when I get to heaven is get Ray Charles information. I need to see him perform. That would make my whole existence. He was a creative genius, one of the best and greatest talents the world has ever seen. He was amazing! Then I am going to a Amy Winehouse concert – the same day! I want to be in pure music bliss. I want to have a lot of fun, I want to dance, sing along to the lyrics and laugh with like minded individuals. Man I swear heaven is going to be so much fun! The next day I am keeping the momentum going. I want to see Louis Armstrong and wait for it John Coltrane, he will finish my second day in heaven but if I still have time I will head over to a Miles Davis concert, man what I would do to hear “Kind of Blues” live. So John, when you done with your set please be so kind to assist Miles. I’d continue my third day with Charles Mingus! Charles you and your team just have to perform “Devil Woman” and “Devil Blues”, I am bitterly disappointed that Colombia did a greatest hits and omitted those two bangers! Charles, if you can commit to playing those two songs, then I will give you the whole of Day 3. And on Day 4, hi there “Delfonics” and “Al Green”, you know I wouldn’t miss you guys. Besides, your music is going to help me get heaven pussy. Of course I will be there, in a flash! I think I will be settled by Day 5 so I will go to a Nina Simone concert and later Roberta Flack. There are religions that promise 7 virgins for the deceased. Imagine that! 7 virgins, all for you. Isn’t that perfect? Isn’t that the end of suffering? That is excellent marketing by God and his angels. Still, it’s not appealing to me. How are the virgins? Are they opinionated virgins who think they have rights? Are they feminist virgins? You know what? No feminists in heaven! Yall can go to hell! Heaven is not a place for feminists. Heaven is a place for good women who are obedient. That’s all a man wants when his dead, 7 obedient virgin women, who will not talk too much and ask too many questions but rather serve as sex objects and suck this dick. That’s it, that’s all we want from heaven. Can you promise that God? I don’t think I’d want 7 virgin women even in heaven. It’s too much administration and work. Will they give it up easy or do I have to work for it? Knowing women they won’t give it up easily without a challenge or getting something in return. But maybe the ruler of heaven is Old Testament God. That would be so dope, if it is Old Testament God, I am confident we will be getting our promised pussy without a strain or any delay on our side. Old Testament God is a good open-minded guy. He ruled the Bible with fear and an iron fist, I am confident in his ability to keep women in line. A man doesn’t need 7 virgin women playing hard to get. There’s also the pressure and stress of satisfying 7 virgin women. Honestly, I don’t want that kind of stress when I am dead. It’s not worth it, I am dead and in heaven, I’d rather let loose. Heaven for me would be smoking Chronic the whole day. I’d rather not have a penis too. I definitely don’t want a vagina. No sexual orientations in my heaven. Just weed, music and maybe Gordons gin. But if God insists, I will have both a penis and a vagina. I think we can negotiate on boobs, they are not neccessary. I think God will side on me with this one. It’s so typical of Pixar making me ruminate about the second life. What if there is a second layer to life like on the movie “Coco”? What if life continues after death for the absolute last time before we get to heaven or hell? What if you get to relive all the decisions you made during your first life? What if Karma finally catches up with you on this second life? Damn! I enjoyed watching Pixars ideas on “Coco”. It was such a refreshing movie, filled with imagination, awesome storytelling techniques and emotive scenes. It’s such a classic! I expect the same thing with “Soul”. It is going to be a classic, I can feel it. Hoping for the Pygmalion effect with this one. I can’t wait.
In 1976, Apple released their first computer. It was mainly hardware, a board. The two Steve’s sold the belongings to make it happen. Woz sold his awesome calculator and Jobs his VW car. They enlisted a buyer who made an order but they didn’t have capital to fulfill the order, regardless they moved things around and managed to create the required units. This was their MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and it was a success, the start of Apple computers. After their MVP, they set their eyes on designing and creating a fully-fledged computer to be named the “Apple 2”. They formed a “Mastermind Alliance” with Mike Murkela who funded them for a ownership stake in the start-up. A mastermind alliance is an understanding or a partnership that two or more entities share to get to a particular goal. It was a perfect union. Murkula got an ownership stake for his investment and a business and the two Steve’s got capital to build the Apple 2 and business experience, guidance and mentorship from the more father-figure Murkula. The release of Apple 2 was a success and everyone was rewarded. Apple 2 is the reason, there is a Apple today. But without a mastermind alliance nothing big can really happen because a company needs resources and infrastructure to expand. Nothing lasts forever and it’s difficult to stay on top. A master alliance helps establish a competitive advantage – imitators are usually rife after the success of a product. Steve Jobs established a closed system for Apple and made it exclusive and further used vertical integration as a business model. Vertical integration is when a company controls all its operations from manufacturing to distribution. Apple has its own operating system, distribution system with Apple stores, ITunes and retail stores, it controls the whole experience. When Apple said “Think Different”, they meant it. They are on a class of their own, they are alone. They will always have a competitive advantage because all of their products are linked. Everything is custom-made for the Apple user. Epic games are suing Apple for charging too much commission, but I feel it’s in vain because they Epic games are operating in Apples domain. It’s like somebody making the rules in your house. The Apple store is Apples, they decide how much commission to charge, if you don’t like it – tough! Yes they are operating as monopoly but their business model enabled them to be distinguished, they deserve their power because they created the market – this is the brilliance of Apple. After the MVP, you need a mastermind alliance, it is vitally important.
Successful people make their own luck. Both sides on their coins are heads and their dice always roll seven. They don’t take chances. Successful people control results, they don’t let results control them. This is why many successful people have an elevated view of the world. An elevated perspective helps you distance yourself from situations. It enables you to plan and forecast the future. Jeff Bezos is a master of looking into the future. He builds for the future. For years Amazon had been operating at a negative deficit but he kept on expanding and convincing his investors to look at the long-term prospects of the company. Today Amazon is one of the most valuable companies in the world, one of the most profitable and sells absolutely everything. Jeff, achieved this with Amazon because he delayed gratification and elevated his perspective. His investments and acquisitions have been outstanding. He purchased Alexa, Twitch and was one of the early investors of Google – investing $2 Million when it was just a start-up and today Google is the pulse of the internet if not the world. Let’s not forget Blue Origin, a space company whose ambition is to colonize Mars.
Jeff Bezos is a visionary, no wonder he is the world’s richest man. He is a man who knows what he wants. He is a man of great innovation and ambition and he is deliberate about it. When he sees potential, he sinks his teeth into it. He is a long-term thinker. Having an elevated perspective helps achieve his goals and create space for innovation.
This is a trait of all successful individuals, Focus and long-term thinking. It has worked for Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Elon Musk. Steve Jobs also had the reality distortion field that enabled Apple to be the most valuable company in the world. Successful people are deliberate about what they want to see. They apply a lot of focus and resources to win. Successful people don’t wait for chance or speculate on the future, they have successful systems that enable them to win. They are relentless and ruthless. They never quit, it’s either they win or they win. Successful people create what they want to see with the aid of time. Successful people always get what they want.
Conforming has its advantages for example if you are starting an online community, you have to understand the ecosystem and adapt to make it your own. You have to understand what works and what doesn’t to create a framework and structure for your newly formed community. When you have a structure and framework you can slowly add what’s different about you. Being different from the get go is not wise because you can get shunned and ignored, that’s not good for creating a self-sustaining brand. Different doesn’t necessarily mean good. You have to conform to a certain point because to conform entails to be emphatic and empathy makes you relateble and likeable. To conform is to understand and to be compassionate because you can mirror people’s mannerisms, tastes and conducts.
A perfect example of conforming to be different is with the Apple 2. When it was released it was just like a lot of computers in a lot of ways. It could run on any operating system, it could be modified to the users tastes and had multiple USB ports. Steve Jobs later changed everything about the Apple 2 with later products to reflect what Apple stood for, to be different, to have a rebellious spirit and to have taste. Apple needed to stand out from the rest of the market and set the benchmark. He closed off everything so Apple could run on its own operating system and reduced the multiple USB ports to just two ports for the modem and printer. The decision to close off Apple was the difference maker and is the reason Apple is the most valuable company in the world. Apple of course is vertically integrated today owning and controlling everything from operating systems to distribution. But they had to conform first. Not conforming makes you different and can provide an edge to inspire innovation that can make you successful, however it’s not always guaranteed. You need to be flexible enough to know how to fit in and then go out.
Warren Buffet is a perfect example of this. He lives far away from Wall Street to avoid the noise and clutter. He doesn’t follow the news. He is sheltered in Omaha. However when it suits him and his business interests, he can be attuned in and make decisions everyone else can’t see because of his different perspective. As opposed to news and loud untrustworthy bulletins, he has trusted sources from within Wall Street, that gives him the advantage. You conform to understand and then make your own way.
Steve Jobs once said “the customer doesn’t know what he wants until you show it to him”. His point was that you must create a need and simultaneously fill it. The sentiment that no one really knows anything has been around for millennia. Nassim Taleb explores thoroughly this on his book “The black swan”, which I highly recommend. The book explores unpredictability, once off events and biases. The internet for example is a black swan event because no one could have predicted it prior to the 20th century. The Covid pandemic is another black swan event, nothing like this has ever happened before, it literally stopped life! We didn’t know what to do or how to react. If you had asked people in Henry Fords time what they wanted, they would have replied a faster horse. How about a horse that won’t die if you don’t feed it or leave it out in the cold? This is the genius of the automobile. To know what people want is to know what you want. I want a great product or service that will serve my needs. I want great customer service. I want ease of use and I want convenience. I want service, care and respect. If you can fill those needs, I am a customer. A big innovation might make your offering popular but what I listed are the fundamentals. If you can do the fundamentals really well, you can attract a lot of customers. This doesn’t require market research. Of course, I am governed by biaes and they dictate my life but human nature still rules. If you can understand people’s motivations, that is, people are narcissists and think the world revolves around them, you will do well in business. Cater to the narcissist in the best way possible, this is a psychological urge everyone yearns for – “Just make me feel special, that’s all I want. Make me feel good!”, that is what people want.
